Deep in thought,
On my walk;
Unsure how I crossed the road.
Dog with me.
Thoughts were about,
Upcoming weekend;
Celebrating the 1st anniversary,
Of the passing of a man,
Dear to so many.
He was a Son and Brother,
Husband and Father,
Uncle and Grandfather.
He will be remembered by all,
As the gentle and kind soul.
On living life with no regrets,
I pondered deeply.
On the many ways it can be,
Translated to each human being,
Oh so differently.
My reflections continued,
On one translation.
No regret of yesterday,
For the experience and learning,
Of yesterday, applied to today;
Creates the better version of self today.
And yet another reflection,
Living yesterday,
True to good values,
Does matter.
For good values guiding,
Allows for inward reflection to those values,
To create the better version of self today.
Live life with no regrets,
Including those big moments,
Big decisions once made,
With tools of that day,
Made that part history,
To become our legacy.
For to regret the past
Decisions once made,
Is to want to re-wind the clock.
That is not possible (in my experience),
Though the future can be changed,
Based on life lessons gained.
To create the final legacy
That before we take our last breath
The final person we became
Allows us to close our legacy in peace
